Zogg Fire Resources

Please review the following sections to find current resources for Fire Survivors of the Zogg Fire. More resources will be added to this list as they are connected to 2-1-1.

Primary Agencies

  • Northern Valley Catholic Social Service (NVCSS): Provides comprehensive case management services and emotional support for Zogg Fire survivors – includes referrals to all available services. Register by using this FORM. Or call 530-247-3304 or email zoggfire@nvcss.org. Flyer: Zogg Fire Survivors – NVCSS.
  • FEMA: If your primary residence (as a property owner or renter) was located in a declared disaster zone, you may qualify for federal assistance to help take care of necessary expenses and serious needs that cannot be met through insurance or other forms of assistance. The registration deadline was December 16, 2020. Food

Clothing, Hygiene, and Household Items

  • Pathways to Hope for Children – Family Resource Center: Provides a limited supply of diapers, wipes and children’s clothing. For Zogg fire victims with children ages 0-17 who have been displaced, they welcome drop-ins Monday-Friday 9am-4pm excluding some holidays. 2280 Benton Dr., Building C, Redding.   • CARR Furnishings: Accepting donations of furniture to provide for any fire survivors in the Redding area. For details, see their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/carrfurnishings.
  • 2-1-1: Connects to community resources offering clothing and household items. Check 211norcal.org/shasta/search/clothing-household.

Financial Assistance

  • United Way of Northern California – Stable Housing Opportunity Program (SHOP): Provides up to $2,500 financial assistance to Zogg Fire survivors who are at-risk or currently experiencing homelessness and have identified a housing solution and need financial assistance to pursue or secure it. Must first apply for case management with Northern Valley Catholic Social Services (above). Phone Theresa Azevedo at 530-604-3306 or email slater.zoggshop@gmail.com.
  • Small Business Administration (SBA): Provides low-interest disaster loans to help non-farm businesses of all sizes, private nonprofits, homeowners and renters recover from declared disasters. Apply online at disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/ela/s/. Or call 800-659-2955 (Mon-Fri, 5am-5pm).
  • Nation’s Finest: Serving Veterans. Nation’s Finest – Veterans’ Services.
  • California Teachers Association (CTA): Provides financial assistance to CTA members who have experienced significant losses due to disasters in California. Apply online at www.ctamemberbenefits.org/drf.
  • Disaster Unemployment Assistance: Employment Development Department (EDD) provides services to people and businesses affected by disasters in California. If you lost your job or cannot work because of a disaster or emergency, you may be eligible for Unemployment Insurance (UI), Disability Insurance (DI), or Paid Family Leave (PFL) benefits. When authorized by the President of the United States, Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) may also be available for workers and self-employed people who do not qualify for regular UI benefits.   • Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program (Section 8/HUD): Provides rental assistance to eligible families with low income in Shasta County (outside the city limits of Redding). The wait list is currently closed to the general public but open to Zogg Fire survivors within 6 months of losing home or home damaged in fire.   • Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA): Offers 12 months rental assistance with up to $1000 deposit. Income limits are slightly higher, for those that don’t qualify for HUD. For details, call 530-225-5160, M-F 8am-4pm. See Flyer: Housing Resources for Zogg Fire Survivors.
  • Shasta County Owner-occupied Housing Rehabilitation: Offers loans for low-income home owners in unincorporated areas of Shasta County to help with home repairs. For details, call 530-225-5160, M-F 8am-4pm. See Flyer: Housing Resources for Zogg Fire Survivors.
  • City of Redding Housing Choice Voucher Program: Provides rental assistance to eligible families with low income in the City of Redding. Preference is given to seniors, people with disabilities, and families who live or work within the City of Redding. The Housing Choice Voucher Program wait list for the City of Redding is currently open.   • City of Redding Homebuyer Program:  Offers home purchase programs to assist low-income families or individuals purchase a home within the city limits of Redding.   • 2-1-1: Connects to community resources offering housing assistance. Check 211norcal.org/shasta/search/housing.
  • Legal Services of Northern California: Provides legal assistance to fire survivors facing legal issues related to the fire and who are unable to afford a lawyer. Legal assistance may include issues regarding: impact of fire on job, disaster-related public benefits for families impacted by the fires, landlord issues, working with mortgage lender in the event of a total or partial loss, personal property damage, and other expenses related to the fire.
