Heat illness and deaths are preventable. Learn how to stay cool and safe before and during a heat wave.
The simplest way to be safe in the heat is to spend time indoors. If one’s home or other environment becomes too hot, one is generally advised to visit a public indoor area such as a local library or community center. A local shelter is also available during the day and for overnight stays.
Places to go to keep cool include:
- Tehama County Library in Red Bluff, Corning, or Los Molinos. 530-527-0604.
- Visit website for locations and hours: tehamacountylibrary.org.
- Red Bluff PATH Navigation Shelter, 550 Lay Way. Daily, 7am-7pm. 530-727-9291.
- Overnight stay available. Contact 2-1-1 or visit PATH Shelter for Coordinated Entry Assessment (required*).
- Red Bluff Community Center, 1500 S. Jackson Street. Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
Need transportation to a Public Air-conditioned Space or Cooling Center?
- Tehama County TRAX and ParaTRAX air-conditioned bus rides are FREE and available Monday through Saturday for those that need a ride to a cool location during the heat event.
