The simplest way to be safe in the heat is to spend time indoors. If one’s home or other environment becomes too hot, one is generally advised to visit a public indoor area such as a local library or community center. A local shelter is also available during the day and for overnight stays.

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office closely monitors our extreme weather and will notify the public when Cooling Centers will be activated and operational. The location and hours of availability will be released to the public upon activation.

- Tehama County TRAX and ParaTRAX air-conditioned bus rides are FREE and available Monday through Saturday for those that need a ride to a cool location during the heat event.
