RED BLUFF –The Tehama–Glenn Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection (CAL FIRE) plans to burn 109 acres of annual grass Saturday June 29, 2024, and
Sunday June 30, 2024, along Highway 36 West from Cannon Road to Oak Knoll Drive. Burning
will start at approximately 5:00 p.m. Saturday June 29, 2024, and will end by 7:00 a.m. Sunday
June 30, 2024. The burn will continue at approximately 5:00 p.m. Sunday June 30, 2024, and be
completed by 7:00 a.m. Monday July 1, 2024. The control burn will be conducted weather
permitting. Highway 36 West will be under controlled traffic during burning operations.
Emergency vehicles will be patrolling the area heavily, so please be aware of emergency
vehicles along the highway. The purpose of the burn is fuel reduction along the highway to
reduce roadside fires, while providing firefighters with live fire training.
The Prescribed burn will:
➢ Promote natural regeneration.
➢ Enhance wildlife habitat.
➢ Protect watershed values.
➢ Reduce overall vegetation to decrease the chance of catastrophic wildfire in the future.
